Although I ran a very aggressive campaign for the GOP nomination of Colorado’s State Treasurer, I had always promised, from the start, that no matter the result, should I not be victorious, not only would I give the maximum contribution to the winning GOP candidate, but I would also give them my full endorsement and support – and that support tonight is going to Walker Stapleton.
Contrary to a picture being painted by the Denver news media, when I was running for State Treasurer, I debated Walker Stapleton many times, as he showed up to plenty of events and debates. And I am proud to support Walker because he is intelligent, he has financial experience, and most all, he is HONEST. Regardless of who the audience is, or where it is, Walker will always say the same things, never changing his message or his words to accommodate for political gain – that is the most impressive quality I took away from debating him so many times – and on Colorado’s Western Slope, where I was raised, we believe that your word is everything that makes you a man – and I can personally confirm that Walker’s word is bond.
I believe that the incumbent State Treasurer, Cary Kennedy, is a wonderful person, who truly loves Colorado and works to do what she believes is sound policy for our good State – however, in this recent wave of our Democratic-controlled State Legislature implementing tax increasing mil levy freezes and car fees, among other money-collecting policies, I have been disappointed to see our State Treasurer stand alongside them, whether in silence or in full support.
We need a State Treasurer who will take a stand against tax increases, fight against increased ‘fees,’ and of course, do everything he can to empower the great Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights (TABOR).
Lastly, I congratulate JJ Ament on running in the race, as well, and I am happy to also see him publicly endorsing Walker Stapleton this evening. The GOP ticket in Colorado is unified and hungry – I look forward to donating the maximum contribution to Walker Stapleton and I ask all Coloradans to join me in voting for him!
Love and peace – Ali Hasan, Republican, Eagle County

As a lifelong Republican who was born and raised here in Colorado, I am deeply proud to endorse Ken Buck for United States Senate and I encourage all Coloradans to vote for him.
My vote is based on two motivations – a voice for rural America and a need for fiscal conservatism.
As a boy who grew up on our Western Slope in Eagle County, I feel it imperative that we send a rural voice to our United States Senate. Colorado’s three biggest economic forces are agriculture, energy, and tourism, all industries that are only found in our rural areas, ultimately proving that Denver is dependent on the Western & Eastern Slope, the San Luis Valley, and the Eastern Plains, not the inverse. Unfortunately, with severance taxes being diverted to Denver and talks to relocate Union Pacific rail tracks to our Eastern Plains, our rural areas have never been under greater attack.
In being from a rural area, as well as campaigning in every county, Ken Buck has demonstrated a sensitivity to our rural areas that will be needed in order to preserve the heritage of our West.
Secondly, in running for State Treasurer, I was proud to gain the endorsement of Douglas Bruce, as well as promoting the need for our State to divest from bailouts – in doing so, I stand proudly with Bruce and Jon Caldara, in becoming one of Colorado’s strongest fiscal conservatives. With that said, unlike Lt Governor Jane Norton, Ken Buck did not support Referendums C & D. More importantly, if we are to defeat the Democrats, we must do it with a candidate that doesn’t have to defend or apologize for Referendums C & D.
While Lt Governor Norton is quick to call for the repeal of Obamacare and the abolishment of governmental departments, such promises seem insincere without an apology for supporting Referendums C & D? After all, Norton’s current defense of C & D, coupled with her personal declarations of being a ‘Conservative,’ calls to question her ability to judge the difference between fiscal conservatism and fiscal liberalism.
Let it be known that it was not the request of additional monies that made Referendum C an awful law, but rather, the fact that this request had no specified appropriations or requested monetary amount, ultimately becoming the biggest tax increase in Colorado’s history, with no accountability attached. In turn, from a viewpoint of strategy and principle, Ken Buck is the best choice.
Lastly, in traveling the campaign trail, I’ve gotten to know Ken and Perry Buck very well – they are genuine people, who love Colorado and truly want to represent Colorado well in the Senate – overall, I couldn’t think of a better person to support.
I’m proud to support Ken Buck for United States Senate and I ask all to vote for him! Please feel free to email me with any questions, as I’m always happy to vouch for Ken Buck.
Love and peace –
Ali Hasan

Dearest supporters –
It’s the end of our road here
We were not able to secure the necessary amount of delegates at the GOP Convention yesterday – while we did qualify for an option to petition onto the ballot through a signature process, I am against it – from the start of the campaign, we committed to the Assembly process
And while a substantial amount of delegates gave us their support, we were still short of qualifying – with that said, I am a man of my word – I respect the decision of our good activists and we end our campaign here
I am deeply proud of our campaign
I have the best campaign manager in the world in Drew Dougherty and I couldn’t ask for better volunteers, especially Dennis, Uncle Charlie, and Donnie
I’m very Blessed to have a wonderful family
But the two best parts of this campaign were traveling all over Colorado and making so many more friends
I love Colorado – I love our Party – and I love our activists
I look forward to helping our State Senate and House candidates win back Colorado in 2010 – and I’m really really looking forward to getting back to film directing
Thank you Colorado
- Candidate Ali
PS – as I left the Convention in Loveland, walking through the parking lot last night, I noticed a gigantic SUV with a red HASAN bumper sticker stuck on – it’s my favorite picture from this campaign trailer….

Great to spend tonight at the CD7 Assembly with delegates from Adams, Arapahoe, and JeffCo!
Great to see so many Team Hasan members, especially Ali, Dan, Kyle, Bodnar and many others!
Our message reasonated great – CD7 doesn’t want Ed Perlmutter or his bailouts – and the State Treasury needs to divest from bailouts and CD7 needs to divest from Congressman Perlmutter
Great to see our Chairs, Clark Bolser, Dave Kerber, and Don Ytterberg
Congrats to Ryan Frazier and Lang Sias for making the ballot, with Ryan taking the top line – Congrats to Ryan and his team for a job well done at the Assembly in getting top line! And congrats to Lang – it should be a great primary!
We are also very sorry that our good friend Mike Sheely did not make the ballot – Mike we love and were proud to have you in our Party
Congrats also to Mike Deming on a job well done – we hope you stay active Mike!
Looking forward to the Convention!
We love CD7!!!!

I am deeply proud to announce that I have finished our delegate calls!!!
I made around 3,600 individual calls and personally spoke to around 1,300 delegates – most calls ended in voicemail, but no worries – that still counts, as I left my cell with every message and normally returned a handful of calls every night
Every delegate who provided a phone number, nor had a disconnected number, was called personally by me – and again, I had around 1300 personal convos this last month – this should serve us well in the Convention…. I wish I could call all Alternates too, but alas, only so much time…
I think I’ve developed carpel tunnel in my left arm, and my left hand still tingles…. Still, knocking on 20,000 doors in HD56, when I ran for State House in 2008, was tougher…
I’m proud that I didn’t rely on staffers to make these calls – it takes great dedication and energy to be a Delegate and activist, and for that committment, Delegates should hear directly from me first, not my staff
Lastly, based on the calls, I can confirm that we will be strong at the Convention – nonetheless, the Treasurers race will be very competitive
I love all the Delegates!
Time to relax before the Convention…

Update on delegate calls – I’m at around 3200 calls and hoping to get to at least 3500 by today!
We are proud to announce the endorsements of Sheriff Thomas Nestor of Lincoln County on the Eastern Plains, Douglas County Coroner Wes Riber, and Chaplain Mary Payne of Adams County
We humbly boast the best endorsement list in Colorado because we have the only endorsement list that includes Conservatives in all positions of leadership, including Sheriffs, Coroners, Chaplains and Reverends, School Board Members, and Mayors
Thank you all for giving us the best endorsement list in Colorado!

Candidate Ali has personally called around 3,000 State Delegates and Alternates, as of today, leaving voicemails and having many personal conversations
Thank you to everyone for the warm conversations and pledges of committent – we can confirm that the State Convention is going to be very competitive
Let it be known – Team Hasan doesn’t rely on robocalls or staffers to get in touch with Delegates – Candidate Ali reaches out himself!
Again, the process of becoming a delegate takes a ton of time and requires deep committment – and the Republican Party is nothing without its best activists
I’m proud to call every delegate and will round out this last as we get closer – I’m at 3,000 – keep looking back for updates this week as I close out this list, in anticipation for the Colorado GOP Convention which starts on Friday
Ali Loves Delegates!

Our opponent, JJ Ament, recently attacked the Hasan State Treasury Plan. We stand by our plan and our response is as follows:
Why does JJ Ament hate the idea of investing in Colorado? As Ali Hasan has demonstrated, Colorado bonds offer stronger yields, while also creating jobs. JJ Ament, on the other hand, has gone through Hasan’s State Treasury Plan and provided 25 pages defending bailouts, CitiGroup, and Cary Kennedy.
Which begs a question – what is the Ament plan? Continued investment in CitiGroup, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac? Not supporting 60, 61, and 101, which would ultimately strengthen the Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights?
More importantly, in his 25 page criticism, JJ Ament provides few, if any, footnotes to back up his argument for why we should stay invested in bailouts, ultimately setting up a clash of credibility – who do you believe – Hasan or Ament?
The Hasan campaign won’t run away from footnotes. Attached is the financial disclosure which shows that JJ Ament still receives an income from two bailout banks.
And in this clash of credibility, who is to be believed? Hasan, a Colorado small business owner who wants to invest in Colorado? Or JJ Ament, a CitiGroup banker?
We stand by our facts, our endorsers stand by our facts, and we refuse to listen to the same bankers who put us into this bailout mess.
- Download J.J. Aments Personal Financial Disclosure from 2009 and 2010
Lastly, we provide a letter from one of our endorsers, Bob Shirilla, who vouches for our good work:
FROM THE DESK OF
BOB SHIRILLA
Dear Republican Delegates & Activists,
My name is Bob Shirilla and I am writing in support of Ali Hasan, Republican candidate for Colorado State Treasurer.
I write this letter as a businessman, proud American, and loyal Republican. I have served in senior executive and management roles for several companies, including Kraft Foods, ConAgra Foods, Stanton Chase International, and American Savings & Loan. After retiring from corporate management, I am proud to have served as Vice-Chairman of the El Paso County Republican Party from 2005-2007. I remain active in business serving on the Strategic Advisory Board of Stanton Chase International, the fifth largest executive search and management consulting firm in the world with 68 offices in 40 countries where I had previously been a Senior Partner. I am very proud to have served our country on both active duty and in the U.S. Army Reserves retiring as a full Colonel.
I am asking you to vote for Ali Hasan at our State Convention because his vision of the State Treasurer’s responsibilities is focused on Colorado entities and generating high returns. The foremost duty of our State Treasurer is investing in Colorado entities and generating high returns. As a former financial services executive I am concerned that too many of our state investments are with companies not based in Colorado and having received or requested federal bailouts.
I have reviewed the state investments, as of the Fall of 2009, and feel that too many are with entities such as Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and CitiGroup, all receiving federal bailout funds. Any investment with a bailout company, especially Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, is at risk should the entity require additional federal funding and the federal government not provide the funding. I am confident that Ali Hasan can invest in entities generating returns greater than those currently being generated in the existing portfolio that do not rely on federal support and are based in Colorado.
Ali’s plan to divest from Washington losers and invest in Colorado winners is one I enthusiastically endorse.
Ali Hasan is a businessman with experience. He owns the Colorado small business, Rabia LLC, for which he has received over 35 awards for his work. The Colorado State Treasury has a staff of around 25 employees and a $2 million annual budget. More than experience in accounting, our State Treasury needs to be managed by someone with proven managerial experience. Ali Hasan knows what it takes to meet a payroll.
Along the critical dimensions and imperatives of character, integrity, values, respect for country and fiscal discipline Ali Hasan is in the top 1% of senior executives with whom I have had the opportunity to work. It takes courage for our states and nations leaders to acknowledge that they must keep challenging themselves, inquiring and learning. I believe Ali acknowledges this as a strategic imperative for leaders in our state and nation.
I have known Ali Hasan for a number of years and I am proud to call him my friend. Please join me in nominating him to be our next Colorado State Treasurer.
-Bob Shirilla, Colorado Springs, Colorado
